One trait about myself that isn’t so typical of a Leo – I’m a cheap bastard.
I, a barely-20 year old ballin’ on a budget, am definitely picky with what I spend my money on. I’m not afraid to splurge on myself when it comes to style and fashion and makeup – but I’m picky when doing so. I’d so much rather grab a few things all at a decent price, as opposed to one expensive item.
That being said, I’m stil a firm believer that you pay for what you get. Yes, I believe in luxury items and value and that if you’re paying more for something it’s probably because you’re paying for the quality. I love to shop at Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe – they have affordable fashion that, yeah, may not be the BEST made, but they do the job. And if we’re being real, trends and styles change SO rapidly that there’s no way in hell I’m gonna spend more than $25 on a shirt that will only last me one season.
Another thing that is a tad absurd of a Leo – I’m like the definition of casual chic. Leos have a tendency to do everything up to the nines, full on glam and fabulosity. Believe me, I love to get my glam on and a good pair of heels and a LBD never do me wrong – but I’d rather pick some casual boots and my favorite jeans, a t-shirt and sweater or jacket any day.
Without further adue, these are my favorite picks from Forever 21 within the last month!
The pictures don’t really do the color of these too much justice – but they’re a beautiful suede tan color. What really sold me was the ties on the back part, they just add so much sass and flare. There’s a convenient small zipper on the inner ankle part for easy slip-ins. Also, the heel is a decent height, but you could never tell by wearing them! I’m not even kidding when I say they’re super comfy and you don’t have aches and pains after taking them off. I wear a size 7, so like the most basic bitch size ever, and it was the first pair I picked up so I knew it was meant to be.
CASUAL JACKET: $32.90
So, it’s been a few weeks with this jacket and at first I hated it, but I can’t seem to stop wearing it? I picked up a Medium, mainly because I could not find a Small and I was way too lazy to search through the mess that is Forever 21 any deeper than I already had. On the hanger it looked about the same size as any jacket I’ve owned, so I didn’t bother trying it on right there. Again, too lazy to put my bags down and find a mirror somewhere. #Firstworldproblems. Anyway, the medium is fucking huge on me. I could fit two more pairs of arms in each sleeve, and the cuffs go down so far on my hands that all you can see are my nails hanging out. But, the bigger the better, because that means it’s good for… (drumroll please…) LAYERS!! I am one layer-loving bitch. I will wear five layers just for the sake of practicality, with a side focus on fashion.
It has the comfy grey sweatshirt material lining the inner part around the zipper and up to the hood – which I love. It adds a more comfy cozy feeling when you’re wearing it, opposed to the other green jacket I had which just had the zipper. The material does add a lot more of a casual look as well. So, I guess I have mixed feelings about this jacket. It knows I can’t live with it but I can’t live without it.
For work our dress code is black and white. Translation: I go through black and white T-shirts like nobody’s business.
I cleaned out my wardrobe earlier this season, many of the items being old white T shirts that had done their time and needed to retire. I also realized that I had no shirts to wear just casually on my day off that aren’t black or white.
So I grabbed a knitted grey long sleeve scoop neck, a black long sleeve turtle neck (which I’ve already over worn), a plain white Tee (size medium so it fits me loose and comfy) and a black long sleeve crop top, to wear with some high waisted pants. Yay neutrals!!!
SKINNY JEANS: $7.80
YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. EIGHT FRICKEN DOLLARS FOR A PAIR OF JEANS.
I haven’t shopped for jeans probably since the beginning of senior year in High School. I had the same pair of “black” (faded so much they’re now considered grey) American Eagle jeans since sophomore year (I haven’t grown the slightest bit). And that pair fit me well, but one day I decided I wanted to “distress” them, and that consisted of my roommate “distressing” them, and me getting scared of her slicing my knee with the scissors, and running away and telling her it was taking too long. So I had this big open knee that looked terrible, and after a few times of ripping my foot through it on accident while trying to put them on, they were just too ghetto.
So when I saw these I tried on 4 different sizes until I had the perfect pair, I knew I needed to get two pair. Jet black, kinda collects some furballs but that’s nothing a lint roller can’t fix, super skinny and my favorites of all: CHEAP AND COMFY.
